How we gave a J&J Global Medical Affairs team enhanced performance

Leadership Performance System™ for enhanced teamwork and stakeholder engagement, for a global Medical Affairs team. We ran a Team Power and Stakeholder Influence Challenge Session in the US, for a team of 9 managers.

The Challenge

The Global Medical Affairs Team Leader that we worked with, wanted us to help the managers in her team to align on work practices to optimise how to work together and to effectively manage the stakeholder context the team sits within, to deliver in 2025.
Team Performance
Address the performance lever of Team Power, by optimising team alignment, efficiency and collaboration.
Stakeholder Engagement
Through the performance lever of Stakeholder Influence, help the team to better engage their many stakeholders.
Sustainable Momentum
Make changes that would impact performance this year and build ways of work that would continue to drive impact.
Our Solution

Leadership Performance System™

The Leadership Performance System™ is delivered through a series of 90-day cycles, centered around an immersive Challenge Session that encourages managers to explore how they could better address realistic challenges that will come their way.

How it worked

In the two 90-day cycles of Commercial Edge and Team Power, we got insights on performance gaps and challenges, ran Challenge Sessions (virtually) and provided Tangible Actions to guide implementation.
Insights Scan
Had interviews with senior team members. Survey to capture key gaps. Prepared 3 Challenge Scenarios to focus on.
Challenge Session
One-day, high-energy, experiential workshop. Managers stress-tested ways of working against realistic scenarios.
Implementation & Impact
Tangible Actions identified for immediate application and nudges and prompts were provided to support implementation.
Outcomes
Our Leadership Performance System™ gets results. This team aligned on a Team Charter, a structure for prioritising their work from Strategic Objectives to workstreams and tasks, using a Backlog. They began an effective Weekly Huddle and did a clear assessment of their over attendance at other meetings.
